Chinese-New Zealander JJ burst onto the New Zealand television scene in 2009 with a core cast role in the popular primetime drama series Go Girls. Since then, she’s had lead roles in comedy series Flat 3, Step Dave (which was recently picked up for adaptation in the US by NBC) and the popular AFK webseries.

 

In 2016 JJ featured in a major guest role on the popular primetime New Zealand drama Shortland Street and had a guest role in crime drama The Brokenwood Mysteries. JJ has appeared in New Zealand television drama The Bad Seed, Power Rangers, Netflix’s romantic comedy Falling Inn Love and The New Legend of Monkey season 1 and 2, and has worked alongside James Cameron on Avatar 2. 

 

On stage, JJ’s roles include The Secret of Dongting Lake, Man in a Suitcase by Peking University Institute of World Theatre, The Girl in Tan Boots, Rupert, Next Stage and Polo.

JJ is one of the co-founders of Flat3 Productions Ltd, and has produced TVNZondemand webseries "MEME" as well as co-created and starred in"Creamerie" with Flat3 and Kevin & Co Ltd.  She is currently lead producer on a new tele-feature for TVNZ1 called "Princess of Chaos" with fellow writer/co-producer Ally Xue and co-producer Kerry Warkia.
